Seven Little Things (Versatile Blogger Award)

Hey all,

Sorry this post is up so late at night, I have been having technology issues; and those of you who follow me on Twitter would have read that I was about to throw my laptop out the window! I still can't seem to comment, or reply to comments - which is driving me insane! I will get back to you all as soon as I work this all out though!

I was nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by the lovely as ever Tegan from Tegania's Thoughts - thank you so much!!

So, here are seven little things about me!

1. I love to read - it is honestly one of my favourite things in the world! I can get lost in a book for hours and hours!

2. I probably talk about my cat a little too much! - I can't help it, I adore her. A lot of my friends say that I am a couple of traumatic experiences away from being a crazy cat lady.

3. I have epilepsy - it's a part of me, and I am completely okay with it. I don't believe that it defines me as a person or holds me back. I just have to stay away from strobe lights, haha.

4. I really do live for food - I spend a whole lot of my waking time eating, and if I'm not eating I am talking about what I am going to eat later, or food in general (when I am not talking about my cat, hehe).

5. I will always fight for what I believe in - be it Gay Rights, equality or equal pay, I will not stop fighting until I see positive change. I am a social worker after all.

6. My favourite colour is purple.

7. I am a big people person! I enjoy talking to people, being near people and learning about people! So always feel free to chat to me on twitter or send me some comments and emails!

The whole point of the Versatile blogger award is to lead others into some new, and quite frankly amazing blogs that they may have never heard of before!

Rules
- Thank the person that nominated you with a link back.
- Tell 7 things about yourself.
- Pass this on to 10 newly discovered blogs & let them know that they received the award.

I Nominate - I Had to Nominate 11 :D
The Dollymix Diaries
Beauty With The Beautifool
This Is Ess

Have a great night/early hours of the morning! xx

It's All About Balance

Hey all,

Let's talk about balance, in particular the balance between what you need to do and what you want to do. It's common knowledge, or rather it should be, that a healthy life is one that is balanced in all aspects: a healthy working life, paired with a healthy social/recreational life; a healthy diet, without torturing yourself; and healthy relationships that are both give and take.

Yes, we all have things that we 'have' to do, but we also need to remember to do the things that make us happy. As a social worker I understand just how important this is for our happiness, but as the saying goes, it's easier said than done. Over the past few weeks I have been faced with a list of 'must do's' longer than I could've imagined, and in truth I couldn't see the end of it- so I gathered all my strength, took a deep breath and trudged along! Yes I got it all done, and in record time; but now that I am looking back at it I wish that I took it slower and balanced it all out a little.

Why? I started neglecting the things that made me happy and it did absolutely nothing for me. I stopped reading, cut down on my blogging, even stopped eating as much (all things I adore!), and in the end I just ended up feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

I have promised myself that I will never neglect my happiness for a list of to-do's again, and I am going to make sure that I make time in my life for the things that make me happy - no matter how small they are!

5 Little Things That Make Me Happy
- Tea
- My Cat
- Reading
- Blogging & Beauty in General
- Shopping!

This was a bit more of a personal kind of post, I hope that you all don't mind!

Let me know how you deal with stress, endless list's and keeping everything balanced! Any hints? Tips?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Bringing in the New Year, Albeit 24 Days Late

Hey all,

I must admit that I expect a lot from 2012.

2011 was a hard year for me, a lot of things didn't go to plan and a few of my hopes and dreams were altered, if not crushed. I moved back to Australia after a stint in London, and had to leave behind a relationship and a dream job. I was plagued by health problems I though would never cease, and on many  days, had no idea where my life was going.

But, looking back at it all - I am glad for everything that 2011 was. It has made me a stronger person, more capable of handling my fears and dealing with anything that the world decides to throw at me. With every closed door, another one opens - 2011 showed me that in a way I could never believe.

Most importantly, 2011 was a year full of creating the foundations for exciting adventures to come.

Although this is 24 days late (sorry guys!), I am welcoming 2012 with open arms, and giving it a stern warning to behave itself.

As for my new year's resolutions? Here they are!

1. Finish all uni assignment at least 2 full day's from their due date.

2. Read at least 100 books, and keep a list of the ones that I do read.

3. Stress less about the little things.

4. Eat healthier and exercise more.

5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, regardless of where I am or what I am doing

Twenty-four days in and the resolutions have been going great! I am eating healthier, heading to the gym at least three times a week, keeping hydrated, and I've already read three books!

And to all of you: may this new year be everything you wish it to be.

After a long absence, I am back to blogging. I will be changing some things in my blog in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!

Hope you all have a great year! xx
