Essence Gel Eyeliners Review + Swatches

Hey all,

Ahhh, this eyeliner!!

I am definitely on an Essence product love-fest at the moment and here is another one that I adore! Their products are always amazing quality and are super cheap - I really don't have a single bad thing to say! This European brand definitely knows how to make makeup!

I have been on a bit of a gel eyeliner kick recently and have heard so many great things about Essence Gel Liners, so I picked a couple up as soon as I came across them!

I picked up 01 Midnight in Paris (a true black) and 03 Berlin Rocks (deep plum purple).

What I Love
- So highly pigmented, they really have amazing colour payoff!
- Go on smoothly, and are so easy to apply.
- Waterproof.
- Long lasting - they will last through tears and sweat!
- The packaging is great! They come in glass tubs, and are sleek and stylish.
- Cheap, cheap, cheap!!

What I Don't
- As far as I know, you can only buy Essence at Target in Australia & they always seem to be sold out!

Where to Buy: Target

Look at how intense that black is!!
Also, when I said these are incredibly long-lasting - I really meant it! I took a picture of the swatches on my hand after I tried to get them off with a makeup remover wipe!

It didn't budge! And I ended up scrubbing furiously! Eye make up remover is a must!

All up, I definitely adore these! They are my new favourite gel eyeliners and I will have to track down the other shade!

Do you like gel eyeliners? Which are your favourites?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Seven Little Things (Versatile Blogger Award)

Hey all,

Sorry this post is up so late at night, I have been having technology issues; and those of you who follow me on Twitter would have read that I was about to throw my laptop out the window! I still can't seem to comment, or reply to comments - which is driving me insane! I will get back to you all as soon as I work this all out though!

I was nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by the lovely as ever Tegan from Tegania's Thoughts - thank you so much!!

So, here are seven little things about me!

1. I love to read - it is honestly one of my favourite things in the world! I can get lost in a book for hours and hours!

2. I probably talk about my cat a little too much! - I can't help it, I adore her. A lot of my friends say that I am a couple of traumatic experiences away from being a crazy cat lady.

3. I have epilepsy - it's a part of me, and I am completely okay with it. I don't believe that it defines me as a person or holds me back. I just have to stay away from strobe lights, haha.

4. I really do live for food - I spend a whole lot of my waking time eating, and if I'm not eating I am talking about what I am going to eat later, or food in general (when I am not talking about my cat, hehe).

5. I will always fight for what I believe in - be it Gay Rights, equality or equal pay, I will not stop fighting until I see positive change. I am a social worker after all.

6. My favourite colour is purple.

7. I am a big people person! I enjoy talking to people, being near people and learning about people! So always feel free to chat to me on twitter or send me some comments and emails!

The whole point of the Versatile blogger award is to lead others into some new, and quite frankly amazing blogs that they may have never heard of before!

Rules
- Thank the person that nominated you with a link back.
- Tell 7 things about yourself.
- Pass this on to 10 newly discovered blogs & let them know that they received the award.

I Nominate - I Had to Nominate 11 :D
The Dollymix Diaries
Beauty With The Beautifool
This Is Ess
Give Me Bows
Makeup and Macaroons
Same Cookies Different
Beauty Soiree
The Ugly Moments
Fashion Spot
Savvy Spice
Glam Polish

I hope that you enjoyed this post and learnt a thing or two about me! If you end up writing 7 things about yourself, link it below as I would love to read them all!

Have a great night/early hours of the morning! xx

Shabby Chic Inspiration

Hey all,

I'm at the point where I have decided that I want to change the look of most of my house. It's not that I don't like it, I do, I just feel that I have changed quite a bit as a person and I want my living spaces to represent that. I went from being a structured (possibly OCD, haha) person who loved all things modern, to one that has more of an appreciation for all that is old, unique and comfortable!

I think that I have just relaxed a little, so why shouldn't my house relax along with me?

These are just some gorgeous shabby chic decor pictures that I have found and will be using for inspiration; thought that I would share!

Warning: It is a little picture heavy!

Isn't that the most gorgeous wallpaper?!

So cute and quirky!

I could definitely see myself at that table!

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think of these pictures/design ideas!

Have personal changes ever had an impact on your house style? How so? I'm curious!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

On My Lips: FOA Lip Quench in Ruby Delight

Hey all,

Yes, I know, another red lipstick. But I honestly can't help myself, I love red lips a little bit too much! I absolutely adore Face of Australia's Lip Quenches and have a small range of shades, but this is definitely one of my favourites. This shade has become a 'handbag regular' and usually follows me wherever I may go.

The Formula
FOA lip quenches are hydrating, highly pigmented and reasonably long lasting - around 4-5 hours without eating or drinking. It contains shea butter, jojoba oil and vitamin E, as well as having SPF30+.

The Shade
A gorgeous, darker, wearable red. The name suits it well, as it is really a rich and vibrant ruby red!

What I Love
- The colour - it really is an amazing red & one that I treasure in my collection.
- Highly pigmented - you can achieve an amazing look with just one swipe.
- Nourishing and moisturising.
- Long lasting and wears off evenly.
- A complete bargain!!

What I Don't
- I love absolutely everything about this lipstick!

Swatch

FOA lipsticks are always sold out at my local Priceline, so it took me a while to pick up this particular shade - I am so glad that I did! It's a wonderful red that creates such a classic look. This would definitely be one to try if you are scared of brighter reds!

Have you tried any FOA Lip Quenches? Which one is your favourite?

Also, I have finally got my paws on Malibu Barbie!! Also a Lip Quench, it is a wonderful beauty favourite that has evaded me for months! It is definitely a good day.

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Essence Sun Club Eyeshadow Palette 02

Hey all,

I love a bargain as much as the next person, but sometimes it is hard to find quality at a lower price. Fair enough, you get what you pay for...right? Well, Essence has found a way to exceed my expectations; making products that have the same quality as more expensive alternatives. This eyeshadow palette is no exception!

I couldn't help but fall in love with it when I spotted it at Target whilst on holidays, and although I can't remember exactly how much I paid, I am sure it was under $10!!

There were two palette's, I bought 02 Bondi Beach Collection - Long Beach.

The Shades
Gorgeous summery bronzes and neutrals, a wonderful range and mix of shades. Some shimmery, matter and pearl shades.

What I Love
-The shades are highly pigmented, especially for the price.
- Go on smoothly, blend well.
- Creamy formula.
- Minimal creasing, especially when used over a primer.
- Long-lasting.
- The price! Amazing value for money.

What I Don't
- There is a bit of fall out on the palette, but nothing too worrying!

This is one of the loveliest drugstore summer palettes that I have seen so far! It has a gorgeous mix of shades that are all of exceptional quality. I would definitely recommend that you pick it up and give it a try.

Have you tried many Essence products? What is your favourite?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Guts & Glamour Tag

Hey all,

I absolutely love tags! They are always fun, and you always learn interesting bits and pieces about people that you would have never known otherwise. What can I say, I'm a snoop.

I was talking by the wonderful Ess at This Is Ess.

1. What is your favourite fruit juice?

Cranberry juice is definitely my favourite! I love its distinct, not too sweet taste. It is also packed full of antioxidants which is an added bonus!

2. How long has it been since you last shaved your legs?

Shaved them yesterday! Hah, you thought you could embarrass me, didn't you? :P

3. If I was stuck on an island ... (finish this sentence)

I would find a way to relax for the rest of my days; hopefully I have a few books and some mascara.

4. What is the one thing you can never leave the house without?

My phone! That thing is my life support system, and I start getting nervous when we're parted for too long! (I'm not crazy, promise).

5. What are your three biggest pet peeves?

Sentences that go like this: "I'm not racist...BUT", "I'm not complaining...BUT". EUGH!

Scraping cutlery on plates when eating, it is not a pleasant noise.

People who 'forget' to indicate when driving - I don't know where you're going, unless you let me know!

6. What was the pit and peak of your day?

Pit - Realising that I have a uni assignment due on Friday.
Peak - Scrumptious sushi lunch with mum.

7. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Let's just say a lot, more than I care to admit. Haha.

8. When and why did you start your blog?

October last year - I was going through a very stressful point in my life, and felt like I needed to do something that I loved. So I started this blog as a bit of a release, and it worked wonders! It gave me a bit of a fresh start!

9. Would you rather kiss Lil' Wayne for 10 seconds or hold a snake for 10 seconds?

Snake, definitely. I find snakes kind of cute...

10. Who is your favourite person in the whole wide world?

My mother - she is the biggest inspiration in my life. I am the person that I am today because of her :) I am also quite a fan of my cat, but there are those of you who would argue that she's not a person!

11. Are you a coffee or tea person?

Tea glorious tea!! All sorts of tea. My current faves are: Peach Green Tea, French Earl Grey, and Peppermint.

Now I am supposed to create some questions.

1. What's your favourite thing about blogging?
2. Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
3. How many lipstick's do you own? Approximately.
4. Describe your go-to look, what do you like about it?
5. Bright lips or colourful eyes?
6. What is your favourite food, or type of food?
7. Do you have any pets?
8. Where is your favourite place to holiday?
9. Do you read much? And what do you enjoy reading?
10. What's your favourite TV Show of the moment?

Now, I tag ALL of you! I want to read lots of responses! Leave the link to them in the comments, and I will check them out!

Hope you all have a great afternoon! xx

On My Lips: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in #10

Hey all,

I have a great and possibly strange love for red lipstick. I love the way that it makes me look and feel, and generally refer to it as magic in a tube. Having this strong love for red lips, I have developed quite a collection over the years and am definitely still going!

This particular lippie was evading me for a long while, it was always sold out whenever and wherever I looked and I almost gave up (and nearly bought it online of course) when I found it hiding in a corner of a tiny pharmacy.

The Formula
I adore Rimmel Lasting Finish lippies, and especially love the Kate Moss shades. They go on smoothly and easily, wear well, and last hours without eating or drinking.

The Shade
Kate Moss knows a thing or two about lipstick shades! This shade is a wearable, bright and absolutely divine red. It is quickly becoming one of my more favourite red shades & I have been referring to it as 'my classic red' of late.

Swatch

On My Lips

Price: $11.95

Where to Buy: Priceline, David Jones, Big W, Target, Kmart, Coles, Woolworths and at selected pharmacies across Australia.

If you haven't yet tried out any of Kate's Rimmel Lasting Finish shades, I definitely recommend that you do. I can also highly recommend #14, a gorgeous nude.

What is your favourite red? What is a classic red lipstick to you?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

*For reference I am a NC42.

My First Ever GlossyBox - March 2012!

Hey all,

So I have purchased yet another beauty box subscription! For those of you who know me personally or have been reading my blog for a while, this won't come as a surprise to you at all! I can't seem to get enough of beauty clutter and am determined to try out each and every new innovation that hits the market.

I recently unsubscribed from Lust Have It!, as although I know a lot of people who adore their services - it just wasn't working out for me. This being the case, I had a beauty box void to fill! Having heard a lot of amazing things about GlossyBox, I figured why not?

The Box
Gorgeous outer shipping box, and an even prettier inner box which contains the products. The theme is an elegant pink and black.

How pretty is the detailing?!

The Products
There were 18 different products which you could have received, these are the ones that were in my box. I received 6 items all up and there was also a $10 gift card for zanui.com.au (who doesn't love gift cards)!

Blush Amour Lipgloss in #3

Dencorub Extra Strength Heat Gel

Eau Thermale Avène - Thermal Spring Water

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

Sheercover Nourishing Moisturiser SPF15

The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter

I am more than happy with the products that I received this month and am especially excited to try them all out! This is definitely a subscription that I think I will enjoy, and at $14.95/month I definitely have nothing to complain about!

Check out GlossyBox. There is also a quarterly box for men, if you are interested.

Do you enjoy subscription beauty boxes? Which ones are your favourites?

Hope you all have a great night! xx
